כָּל־אֵ֣לֶּה בְנֵי־אָ֠שֵׁר רָאשֵׁ֨י בֵית־הָאָב֤וֹת בְּרוּרִים֙ גִּבּוֹרֵ֣י חֲיָלִ֔ים רָאשֵׁ֖י הַנְּשִׂיאִ֑ים וְהִתְיַחְשָׂ֤ם בַּצָּבָא֙ בַּמִּלְחָמָ֔ה מִסְפָּרָ֣ם אֲנָשִׁ֔ים עֶשְׂרִ֥ים וְשִׁשָּׁ֖ה אָֽלֶף׃ (ס)

Todos esses foram filhos de Aser, chefes das casas paternas, homens escolhidos e valentes, chefes dos príncipes; e o número deles, contados segundo as suas genealogias para o serviço de guerra, foi vinte e seis mil homens.

The Jewish Spiritual Heroes

A student quoted him as saying that the verse about the descendants of Asher, calling them chosen warriors, chiefs of the captains, (Chronicles I, 7:40) and signifying their standing in the army and the battlefield was written so that their reputation and prestige of the ancestors might protect them in battle.10)קדושין ע״ו ב׳.
